Recap Structured Electronic Design
A recap of the course design of application-specific amplifiers with operational amplifiers. A step-by-step approach:
Derive the specifications from the application description:
Functional specifications
Performance specifications
Environmental (operating) conditions
Cost factors
Find show-stopper values for equivalent input noise sources of the controller:
Design a high-level bias solution and:
Find show-stopper values for the static and dynamic voltage and current drive capability of the controller
Find show-stopper values for equivalent input offset and bias quantities of the controller
Find show-stopper values for (de)coupling capacitances and biasing elements
Search for an operational amplifier that can be used as controller
Make a small-signal model that can be used for the evaluation of the linear dynamic behavior with the aid of the asymptotic gain feedback model:
Evaluate the frequency stability and if necessary apply frequency compensation
Verify the behavior using LTsipce or SLiCAP with appropriate models
Build it and test it!
